1.1 Countries who can participate in the IGG are: Guyana, French Guiana and Suriname.
1.2 Each country will be represented by a MALE chess team of 4 (four) players and a FEMALE chess team of 4 (four) players, each consisting of students born between Jan 1, 2007 and Dec 31, 2011 (ages between 14 and 18 as at Jan 1, 2025). Each team must appoint one captain. The captain may be, but not necessarily, one of the players.
1.3 Each country must submit their lists of players, complete with board placements, at least 2 weeks before the start of the tournament. Once the tournament starts, no modifications may be made to these lists.
1.4 Only chess players, who are at least 1 year resident of the respective country and still are students may be registered.
2.1 There will be 2 categories: Male and Female. Each team will play on 4 boards, in the same order as their original team list of players.
2.2 The teams ranked first in the pairing list shall have the white pieces on the odd-numbered boards, the black pieces on the even-numbered boards. Initial placements will be decided by random selection by the Swiss-Manager Tournament Management Software.
2.3 A double round robin system will be adopted for this tournament.
2.4 The time control will be 60 minutes with 30 seconds increment from move 1 for each player.
2.5 The pairings and results of each round will be published on chess-results.com
2.6 The playing session shall start by the announcement of the Chief Arbiter.
2.7 The default time is 30 minutes after start of the game. Any player who arrives at the chessboard after the default time shall lose the respective game.
3.1 There should be no other electronic equipment other than those used for competition and monitoring in the playing hall. In case of this rule violation by a player, he/she loses the current game.
3.2 During play, the players may talk only to an arbiter. Communication to their captain or with their opponents, is only permitted with permission of the arbiter. The captains shall refrain from interfering in any way.
3.3 While his/her game is in progress, a player may leave the playing venue only with the permission of the Chief Arbiter and only if he/she is accompanied by one of the arbiters.
3.4 Players are requested to maintain a dignified appearance at all times during the tournament. Slippers, shorts, sun glasses, sports caps, ripped jeans, camouflage and revealing attire are not allowed.
3.5 All players shall abide by the principle of fair play and the FIDE Anti-Cheating Regulations. If cheating is found, the player shall be punished according to relevant provisions of FIDE Anti-Cheating Regulations.
4.1 Each round will be played on 4 boards. Individual boards would score GAME points: WIN – 1 (one) point, DRAW - ½ (half) point, LOSS – 0 (zero) points.
4.2 For each round, MATCH points are determined based on the GAME points achieved in 4.a:
4.3 2 (two) points for a match where a team has scored a greater amount of GAME points than the opposing team.
4.4 1 (one) point for a match where a team has scored an equal amount of GAME points as the opposing team.
4.5 0 (zero) points for a match where a team has scored a lesser amount of GAME points than the opposing team.
5.1. The following tie-breaks will apply for the final ranking in the following order:
1. MATCH Points
2. GAME points
3. Direct Encounter
4. Sonneborn-Berger
The Guyana Chess Federation will appoint 1 Chief Arbiter and 2 Deputy Arbiters.
7.1 The Appeals Committee will be formed at the technical meeting.
7.2 The Appeals Committee will be composed of three members, representing a minimum of 2 different federations
7.3 The member of Appeals Committee shall not make decisions on the case related to his or her country/region. In the event of such a situation, the committee member should withdraw from the case.
7.4 All appeals must be submitted in writing to the Chief Arbiter within 10 minutes after the end of the match, and a deposit US$50.00 must be paid to the organizers. This deposit will be refunded if the appeal is determined merit. If the protest is found to have merit the deposit shall be reimbursed, if the protest is denied the deposit shall be forfeited in organizer´s favor.
All players need to be registered through their federation via email to guyanachess@gmail.com before November 15, 2025 with the following details: Full name, Fide ID, FIDE rating, date of birth, gender, and National Federation or country of residency. Digital images of each player against a white background are required.
9.1 The Guyana Chess Federation holds all rights to interpret this regulation. Situations not provided for in these regulations will be handled by the board of the Guyana Chess Federation.
9.2 Participants are obliged to know his/her own health condition, and ensure his/her health condition meets the physical requirement of the event.
9.3 Participants are acknowledged by default to know sport risks and are voluntary to participate in this event.
9.4 Participants shall take responsibilities for any possible casualties or accidents during the event period. His/her families, executors or any personnel concerned shall not lodge a claim or file a lawsuit against organizers or any related party on this ground.
9.5 Every member of the team and each accompanying person gives consent and authorisation to the IGG Organising Committee to use the player’s image in any official media or publications. All players are expected to cooperate reasonably with the media. The players are required to make themselves available for short interviews immediately after each game.
